The fire at a Cambridgeshire nature reserve is no longer being treated as a major incident. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said today that national resilience crews have been stood down after supporting the response to the blaze at Holme Fen for the past fortnight. Firefighters will remain at the nature reserve while clearance work continues and crews monitor for hotspots in the peat, which can continue burning underground. The service is reducing its presence to two crews during the day and one overnight, with the level of response to be reviewed daily.
